Dishwasher Insights

Sometimes we meet people ... The restaurant dishwasher... Who utterly surprise us with insight at a random moment. 

If you ever feel lost, look down at your feet, they are exactly where they are supposed to be. -dishwasher dude

It is so simple, so profound, so true. This tall, tatted up dishwasher, who remains to call me "baby girl" out of what he might think is charm, just shocked me with his insight. When he said this, I looked down at my feet and said, "wow, my feet are right here" in my work shoes, at a barbeque restaurant where the smoked smell doesn't leave until I take a shower. I can't judge him by his comments or tattoos, his history, or the fact that the early 30 something is washing the plates of food that nourish people. His comment sent me through humanity, reality and presence. Helped me to pause and think that all my previous steps got me to where I am and I can't know where I am going to be in the future. My feet are my foundation. My tree trunks, not a speedy train. I am about to take a leap across the country to NYC for my career yet this is exactly where I am supposed to be right now, exactly where the dishwasher is supposed to be. Present. Here. Something to empower us and think about eh?
